Background:

Falls are common in older adults and linked to decreased balance and increased morbidity. Recent research suggests participating in dance may lead to improved balance and health. Salsa involves the use of movements in bipedal, unipedal and tandem stance, steps forward, backward, laterally, and coordinated upper-extremity movements.

Objectives:

To study the effect of modified salsa dance form on balance, confidence and quality of life in community-dwelling elderly.
